We humans are bad at multitasking, rather multitasking is a myth, we can listen to a song while bathing, but neither we remember the beats nor we could feel the warmth of water, we can’t efficiently read and eat at the same time, while morning run we can’t enjoy the beauty of nature and feel the music at the same time.
To live a fuller and meaningful life – we should have Dedicated time for each activity, focused time with undivided attention, no other activity to think of. Only then can we be present in the ‘Now’ and live a more meaningful life.
Give your 100% focus on whatever you do at a given moment – if you want to Read – sit in solitude and only read.
While you may actively practice all success habits, reading, exercising, journaling, meditation. There is no point indulging in these activities which definitely make your life more meaningful unless you have a dedicated time for these.
Your success habits are to be done when alone, not while you are at office or are supposed to spend some quality time with family.
Have dedicated work time, dedicated family time.
While working – focus and give your complete attention to work. When with family, spend time with them without getting indulged in reading, journaling, watching TV or any other habit even if it adds to your success habits. Do not even read or journal when with your spouse or when playing with kid for sake of self development. Neither you get to read nor you get to spend that quality time with your spouse or kid.
Have your time allotted for each activity – morning for your self development – Meditation, Reading, Journaling, Exercises. Evenings to play with kid and some meaningful conversation with your wife.
